Education Opportunities
There are several opportunities available at Reformation to
learn more about God's word and to enrich our understanding and knowledge of the
life of Jesus.
SUNDAY SCHOOL:
Sunday School is held each Sunday, 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., beginning on the Sunday
following Labor Day through early June. The morning includes group welcome
and prayer, classroom study and activities. In
addition, children also prepare for such special programs as Youth Sunday,
Christmas Pageant or Program, Easter Celebration.
- ADULT BIBLE STUDY: Adults and parents of Sunday School
children are encouraged to attend this time of Bible Study and discussion held
on Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Classes are led by the
Pastor. Adult Bible Study is also offered on Mondays at 1:00 p.m.
- COMMUNION CLASS/ACOLYTE TRAINING: Children in the fifth
grade explore their understanding of the sacraments of Baptism and Communion in
a three-session first communion class. In addition, they complete training
as acolytes and become members of the acolyte team for weekly worship services.
- CONFIRMATION PROGRAM: Students in the eighth grade begin
a two-year study in which they learn the Ten Commandments, the Apostle's
Creed, the Lord's Prayer and their meaning to a Christian, and about Baptism, Communion, and Lutheran
heritage. They are confirmed on Reformation Sunday after completing the
program.
- NEW MEMBER CLASSES: Adults wishing to join Reformation
Lutheran Church who are non-Lutherans attend three new member classes during
which they learn and/or review the Ten Commandments, the Apostle's Creed, the
Lord's Prayer, and sacraments of Baptism and Communion, and Lutheran heritage
prior to joining the church family.
- VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL: Usually held in July or August,
children ages three through fifth grade come together in the evening for one
week of fun, fellowship, and study of the life of Jesus and the people who serve
Him. Children especially enjoy learning new songs and making various
related crafts.
